  1. While in Terminal go to the Terminal menu and choose Window Settings...
  2. Then choose Shell from the drop down menu if it is not already selected
  3. Then choose either Close the Window OR Close only if the shell exited cleanly
  4. Finally, click on Use Settings as Defaults
